A strong partnership for high-quality judicial training: the NSJU and the ‘Pravo-Justice’ Project have set out the priorities for the next phase of their collaboration

On 10 July 2026, the Rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, Mykola Onishchuk, held a working meeting with the new head of Phase IV of the European Union’s ‘Pravo-Justice’ Project, Eric Martinville.

The EU ‘Pravo-Justice’ Project is one of the key international partners of the National School of Judges of Ukraine in the field of judicial education. The launch of the fourth phase of the project marks a new stage in the support for Ukrainian judicial institutions, aimed at strengthening their institutional capacity and promoting Ukraine’s European integration.

The main topics of the meeting were the current challenges in the field of judicial education and the strategic priorities of the NSJU within the framework of the new phase of the project. During the discussions, the participants analysed the current state of the judicial training system and outlined practical initiatives planned for implementation in the near future.

Particular attention was paid to adapting Ukrainian judicial education to contemporary challenges, introducing European approaches to the professional training of judges, and strengthening the institutional capacity of the National School of Judges of Ukraine.

Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further systematic cooperation and agreed on specific practical steps within the framework of Phase IV of the ‘Pravo-Justice’ Project. Their joint efforts will continue to focus on developing a modern system of judicial education in line with the highest European standards of justice.

The in-depth discussion was also joined by the Director of the Expertise France Representative Office in Ukraine, Sofiia Oliinyk, the Head of Component 1 ‘Support for Justice Sector Reforms’, Maya Tsvitan Grubishin, the key expert on European integration, Stanislav Ivasyk, and specialists from the National School of Judges of Ukraine.
