Canada's Judicial Institute: a priority partner for the National School of Judges of Ukraine

On 19 May 2026, the Rector of the National School of Judges of Ukraine, Mykola Onishchuk, together with a team of experts from the institution, held a working meeting with the leadership of the National Judicial Institute of Canada.

The Canadian side was represented by Chief Judicial Officer Thomas Crabtree, Executive Director Danielle May-Cuconato and Legal Advisor Florence La Charité-Arbec.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for further cooperation in the field of judicial education. Discussions centred on the implementation of modern international approaches to the training of judges, the use of the latest teaching methods, and the exchange of professional experience between Ukrainian and Canadian experts.

Following a substantive discussion, the parties agreed to draw up a plan of priorities for the National School of Judges, which will be forwarded to the Canadian partners to identify specific areas for further cooperation, taking into account Ukraine’s steps towards European integration.
