The National School of Judges of Ukraine hosted an online working meeting dedicated to the preparation and planning of the Summer School entitled ‘European Union Law and its Implementation in the Ukrainian Justice System: from Luxembourg to the National Court’.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA Luxembourg) – Senior Legal Expert Juan Diego Ramírez-Cárdenas Díaz; Professor, lawyer and lecturer in the Department of International and European Law at The Hague University, Nadiia Rusinova, as well as representatives of the EU Law Training Laboratory at the National School of Judges of Ukraine: Nataliia Akhtyrska, Liudmyla Parshykova and Bohdan Ostudimov.

During the meeting, the participants discussed organisational matters relating to the Summer School, its programme, possible thematic areas, the format of individual sessions, and the involvement of international experts in addressing fundamental issues of European Union law and its implementation within Ukraine’s justice system.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to include in the programme topics concerning the relationship between the principle of the rule of law in the European Union and the constitutional identity of the state, the digitalisation of the judicial system in accordance with the European Union Strategy of 20 November 2025, the principle of ensuring the best interests of the child when making judicial decisions, as well as other topical issues relating to EU law.

Further cooperation on the delivery of a training course on the European Union’s anti-corruption policy, scheduled for September 2026, as well as the planning of training events for judges on EU law for 2027, formed a separate topic of discussion.
The Summer School is an important milestone in the development of international cooperation for the National School of Judges of Ukraine and a further step towards strengthening the professional training of judges in line with European standards. The event is of strategic importance not only for the National School of Judges of Ukraine but also for the state as a whole, as it will contribute to deepening knowledge of European Union law, its practical application in the process of Ukraine’s European integration, and the further development of the national justice system.
Such cooperation demonstrates the National School of Judges of Ukraine’s fulfilment of the tasks set out in the Roadmap on the Rule of Law, which relate to strengthening cooperation with European judicial training institutions and enhancing the institutional capacity of the Training Laboratory for the Study of EU Law through the development of partnerships with international technical assistance projects, the Academy of European Law (ERA) and the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA).
