Gamification and artificial intelligence: training the trainers for the new generation of judges
How can training be made not only effective but also engaging? Participants in the training session ‘Modern Training Technologies: Gamification and Artificial Intelligence’, organised by the National School of Judges of Ukraine, sought to answer this question.
The event combined traditional approaches to learning with innovative digital tools. It was organised with the support of the OSCE Assistance Programme for Ukraine as part of the project “Ensuring Respect for Human Rights in the Administration of Justice, Phase II”.

The main focus was on practicality. Participants didn’t just listen; they immediately put into practice new tools designed to make training sessions more effective and up-to-date.
One of the key areas was gamification. Game elements, role-play scenarios and working with ‘challenging’ participants help transform learning into a dynamic process that holds attention and boosts engagement.
Artificial intelligence played an equally important role. Participants learnt how to use it to quickly create texts, visual materials and even update training programmes in line with modern requirements.
The training programme was designed to combine theory with practice. Topics included the creation of gamified learning modules, the use of AI for content development, working in small groups, and the development of individual plans for implementing new technologies. This approach enabled participants not only to gain knowledge but also to immediately integrate it into their own training activities.
The training was not merely an educational event but a platform for exchanging experiences and finding new solutions. It is precisely such initiatives that shape the modern system of judicial training – flexible, innovative and future-oriented.
