UNESCO–OXFORD TRAINING COURSE “AI, JUSTICE AND THE RULE OF LAW”

On 27 April 2026, the University of Oxford and UNESCO will launch an online course entitled “AI, Justice and the Rule of Law” (in English).

The course is designed for judicial professionals (judges, prosecutors, and other actors in the justice sector) from around the world and provides a practical introduction to artificial intelligence and its impact on judicial decision-making, judicial independence, and access to justice.

The online course consists of six concise modules of approximately two hours each and covers key topics aimed at supporting the use of artificial intelligence in judicial systems in compliance with human rights standards.

The course is free of charge, and upon successful completion participants will receive a certificate issued by the University of Oxford and UNESCO. The course has been developed with the support of the European Union.

The course is available at the following link: link

Additionally, at the link below you can find the UNESCO Guidelines for the Use of Artificial Intelligence Systems in Courts and Tribunals (2025), which have been specifically developed to support the human rights-based implementation of artificial intelligence in judicial systems.

The Guidelines are based on 15 key principles, including:
• protection of human rights;
• transparency;
• accountability;
• accuracy and reliability;
• meaningful human oversight.

The document provides practical guidance for judicial institutions on the development, procurement, deployment, evaluation and, where necessary, discontinuation of artificial intelligence systems.

The Guidelines are available (in English) at the following link:
